Sunrooms
Sunrooms
For all intent and purpose the sunrooms of the past are gone. This is because of the changes in materials and technology. A sunroom today will have high ceiling, heating and cooling, windows that are energy efficient and skylights. This type of room goes by several other names, such as a Florida room, solariums, or sun parlours. The idea behind having this kind of room attached to your house is to get closer to the outdoors without having to experience the insects, or poor weather.
A sunroom is described as a room that has an open design and that has many windows allowing more sunlight to enter and warm the room. The windows will span the walls from within inches of the ceiling to a few feet from the floor. Building a sunroom takes the same care and planning as building any other type of addition. More times than not an existing patio makes a good foundation for a sunroom by adding a roof and walls with the large windows.
